Volcanes camp

On day one you will be picked up at your hotel around 9:00 and by car you proceed to the small town of Bermejo where you meet up with your guide who has a donkey for your luggage.

Following the river for about 3 hours you reach the community around lunchtime and a meal will be waiting for you.  After a well deserved rest in a hammock you'll make a small hike to a (sort of) cave and a viewpoint.  When you return in the community diner will be served.

The showers are, unfortunately, cold but if you shower during the day it is not to bad.

If you booked a three-day tour then the second day you will make a long hike (13 km) starting right after breakfast and ending right before diner.  Lunch will be served halfway.  On this hike you will climb to a high viewpoint and cross several small rivers and canyons.

On the last day you have breakfast and then leave the community on foot to arrive at a pickup-point nearby Laguna Volcanes.  You  have a lunch at the nearby restaurant "Oriental" and after that you proceed to the waterfalls of Cuevas where you walk around for an hour of two before returning to Samaipata.

Small adjustments, like ending in Santa Cruz instead of Samaipata are possible for a small extra fee.

You need to bring a water-bottle, walking shoes and slippers (you cross a river 8 times), sunscreen and insect repellent. It is nice to have your own sleeping bag, but if you don't have one the community provides you with blankets.

Included: Tents, mattresses, food and drinks, local Spanish speaking guide, donkey for luggage, transport, entrance fees

Excluded: Alcohol and snacks.
