Old Trade Route to Sucre

A different way to see the most of Bolivia's smashing country-side.  This 3 day tour takes you from Samaipata via the "Ruta del Che" (and it's museums) to La Higuera, a small hamlet in the hills on the Rio Grande.  There we spend the night in a delightful hotel with delicious (vegetarian) food.  The next day we cross the Rio Grande and arrive in Villa Serano where, if the museum is open, we can see the largest charango (small guitar) in the world.  After an other day of great scenery, we arrive in Sucre. Of course there is plenty of time for photo-stops and short hikes.

Depending on the planning (if we leave on Friday) we visit the traditional Sunday-market of Tarabuco. This is probably the only place in Bolivia where you can take photographs of traditionally dressed indigenous people. A must for every Bolivia traveler that has a camera and a delight for anyone who loves folklore.

If the weather is good we have a picknick at the Rio Grande. Optional is downhill mountain biking from La Higuera to the Picknick spot at the Rio Grande.

This tour can also be done in the other direction, Sucre to Samaipata or as a 2-day tour Samaipata to Villa Serano. From Villa Serano there are several daily busses to Sucre.

Included: multilingual guide, comfortable 4x4 car, hotels, museums, food and drinks (except alcohol)

Excluded: Optional downhill mountain-biking
