In the "Giant Fern Forest" you feel small
What can we say about Amboro?
Well... first of all it is large, very large. 600,000 hectares to be precise. We could also mention it houses over 100 different mammals and around 800 different bird species, but that would arouse the expectation that you might also see them... which unfortunately is not the case. You will have to settle for a beautiful, fairytale like, cloud-forest filled with giant ferns (averaging 4 to 7 meters in height), orchids, mosses, lykens and hundreds of different flowers. When we're in luck a parrot, trogon, toucan or quetzal will cross our path.
Depending on the area, as we said, it is a big forest,
there is also bibosi (a remarkable vine that literally strangulates and kills other tree's and then grows out into a giant tree itself), cactus, bromelia and several medicinal herbs.
Our tours last from 1 to 4 days and depending on your wishes you can have a english, german, dutch or spanish speaking guide. On camping trips we provide you with tents, mats and cooking-gear. It's best you bring your own sleeping-bag, but in case you left it at home we have a few bivi-bags (washable sleeping-bag). You can store your luggage safely in our office while your out and about.
Naturally our guides are professionals, trained in first aid and carry all necessary safety equipment.
